Every repair you book through FixMyGadgets is automatically linked to the gadget it belongs to. As the repair moves through its lifecycle, your gadget record is updated in real time — no manual entry needed.
The 6 Repair Statuses
| Status | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Available | Your request is live and visible to nearby technicians |
| Assigned | A technician has accepted the job and will contact you |
| On the Way | The technician is en route to your location |
| In Progress | Repair has started |
| Completed | Repair is done, service count incremented |
| Cancelled | Repair was cancelled by you or the system |
What Happens to Your Gadget at Each Stage
When a Technician is Assigned
- Your gadget's Current Location is updated to the repair address or pincode
- You receive a push notification with the technician's name
- A "With Technician" indicator appears on the gadget detail page if location differs from home
When the Repair is In Progress
- Location tracking remains active
- You and the technician can message each other directly in the chat thread
When the Repair is Completed
- Service Count is automatically incremented by 1
- The repair is added to the gadget's Service History timeline with date and technician details
- Current Location reverts to your gadget's Home Location
- You are prompted to rate the technician (the rating is added to their public profile)
When the Repair is Cancelled
- Service count is not incremented
- Location resets to Home Location if the gadget was with a technician
Service History View
The Service History tab on each gadget's detail page shows a timeline of all repairs:
- Repair date and completion date
- Technician name (resolved from assigned partner)
- Issue description
- Final status (Completed or Cancelled)
This builds a verified record over time — unlike paper job cards that get lost. When you sell a device, you can show the buyer a complete service history with dates and technicians.
How Auto-Save Links Repairs to Gadgets
When you book a repair through FixMyGadgets — whether via the app, Fixo AI, or the booking form — the system checks if you already have a gadget matching the brand and model. If you do, the repair is linked to that gadget automatically. If not, a new gadget entry is created.
This means even your older repairs (before GadgetCloud launched) can be linked to gadgets retroactively.
Booking a Repair from a Gadget Card
The fastest way to book a repair is directly from your gadget:
Web: Open any gadget → tap Book Repair — category, brand, and model are pre-filled
Mobile: Tap any gadget card → the Request Repair row at the bottom takes you directly to the booking screen with the gadget pre-selected
No re-entering device details every time.
Location Tracking in Practice
The location feature is most useful for household appliances. If your AC is taken for a deep-service, the gadget's current location changes to the workshop pincode. When it comes back, GadgetCloud updates the location to your Home Location automatically on repair completion.
For phones and laptops that travel with the technician, this gives you real-time visibility into where your device is during a repair.
